Igor Krupnik is a cultural anthropologist and curator of the Arctic and Northern Ethnology collections at the Department of Anthropology in the National Museum of Natural History, Smithsonian Institution. Michael Chlenov is professor at the Maimonides State Jewish Academy of Sciences in Moscow.

Excellent work

For scholars, students or just anyone who is interested in the life of Yup'ik people, their history, social organization and cultural traditions, this is a solid basic text. The author, well-known expert on the region, portrays social changes, which occurred in the Bering region in the 20th century, and shows their implications for today.
