About the Author
Wietske Vriezen was born in Wassenaar, Holland. She grew up there and in Scotland. She is a longtime practitioner in Thich Nhat Hanh's community. After having travelled and moved around a bit, she settled down in the city of Rotterdam where she works as a psychologist with gifted children. Ever since she was young, she has loved drawing and making little books.

In the year 2000 Wietske met Thich Nhat Hanh on a retreat in Holland and was touched deeply by the practice. Since then, she has spent time practicing in Plum Village and in the local sanghas in The Hague and Rotterdam. Also she has explored different spiritual paths, only to rediscover what she feels is a profound beauty and wisdom in the Buddhist path as Thây teaches it. 

"The words may sometimes appear to be simple, but I discover more and more what depth and riches lie beneath when I really try to practice them in my own life. The practice brings me peace, joy, a sense of stability and a healthy direction to go in. I have also experienced how warm and supportive it is to practice within a Sangha, to grow together with friends going in the same direction."

Love all of Thich Nhan Hanh's books on Mindful Living

I love all of 'Thay' Thich Nhat Hanh's innovative Vietnamese Zen Buddhism Practices and Mindfulness Ways of Living. I love these palm-size books a lot. They are convience on the go. Thank you Thay for the written books and your efforts on spreading Mindfulness practices through out the world. I also wanted to thank the Sangha of Plum Villages and Thay's Sangha's Monasteries in around the world for teaching us Mindful living as the priorities in life.

You will probably feel a lot less stressed and better able to concentrate

This is the most life-changing $10 I've ever spent. For the immediate benefit my family has experienced, I'd say it's worth 10 times that amount. The instructional DVD that came with this book is the essential part; the book is really not even needed. The DVD is a *quick* and effective intro to mindfulness exercises/breath meditation for busy people who have a hard time finding time/space to just sit still and count breaths (i.e., most parents of small kids). Despite being busy parents, we manage to work this in at the end of the day as the kids play at our feet (and they sometimes join in). Pop in the DVD, select the guided movements, and then follow along. You will probably feel a lot less stressed and better able to concentrate.

Should be in every household

The benefits to children are amazing to witness. After only 3 weeks of applying the movements and breathing exercises to a classroom of children with learning disorders that range from impulsivity to borderline autism, the results were amazing. The children were calm and focused as we ended the session of all 10 movements.

I have introduced the book to 3 other schools who have chosen to start using the exercises at the beginning of each school day.
This book is a small miracle and I wish other parents would begin to incorporate the movements and breathing practice into their children's and their lives right away.
